The Breakthrough Journey Perfect Timing

I really want to write on breakthrough as i know its something we are all journeying to a degree. It could be you are praying for breakthrough in exams, work, finances, getting a house, seeing healing, hearing God’s voice, dreaming…. there are so many areas that we are all seeking a breakthrough for something. We mightn’t always call it that but its essentially what we are asking for.

Somewhere i know people are seeking breakthrough is in the place of waiting, where God has spoken something over your life and you are now waiting to see that come to fruition.  While praying for breakthrough in an area of my own life where i have been waiting for quite some time I recently heard God clearly speaking to me and saying ‘Paul I want you to step out for me right now by having a conversation with the following person’ my response was ‘No chance’, and as gently as anything I heard God say ‘That’s ok, though you will have the chat today and the longer you leave it the harder it’ll get’. Now I’d love to say I instantly acted on Gods instruction but I didn’t I left it a couple hours and you know what… It did get harder!!

I was so glad I did step out and follow God but the thought struck me that his timing is so perfect he picked the exact moment that it was easiest for me to step out and continue my breakthrough journey.

Think about that for a second especially if you are in a place of waiting.. God’s timing is so perfect he picks the hour in which to do something for his glory and for your breakthrough! The specific time in which it will be easiest for you to handle the thing you have been seeking is directed by God. Not only is it the time that will be easiest for you but it is the time that you are mature enough to handle God’s direction. I am certain that if God had’ve spoken to me the way he did even a month or two earlier than he did i wouldn’t have recongised his voice and to be honest i wouldn’t have been in a place where i trusted him enough to follow through with his request.

Its the same with asking for career, or healing or any of the other things we seek God’s breakthrough in God is taking us on a journey to mature us and increase faith. We mightn’t always recongise and see this but believe me he is right now investing in you and placing faith, wisdom and maturity within you and getting people around you who will support you as he begins to reveal the steps you will take on your journey. Which leads me to my final point…

An important aspect of the break through journey is to acknowledge it is actually a journey. We all want to see and know the big picture instantly and know the exact destination we are heading towards however i have learnt recently that God rarely shows that, instead he gives us tiny steps towards it and asks us to trust him int he steps knowing he is leading us towards an incredible destination. We need to stop asking God to show us the whole picture of what breakthrough will look like. We instead need to ask him ‘whats the first step’ ok I’ve done that now ‘whats the second step’. I have no idea what the completion of some of the things i am asking for God’s breakthrough in however i have recently come to a place where i am happy and excited to just complete the small steps and i think that’s the key to being happy during the breakthrough journey.

In finishing I want to encourage everyone going through a breakthrough journey, it can be hard and tiring, frustrating and you want to see the other side. However, know that God has it in control, you may not notice it now but he is placing things, thoughts, people, faith in your life that will help you for when the breakthrough season comes, he cares so deeply for you that he is letting you mature and build so that you can handle your breakthrough and when hem shows you the steps you need to take. Understand that he is showing you those at the exact time that it is easiest for you to take them. Be encouraged he hears your prayers and cares for you so much more than the thoughts of the enemy try to let you believe.
