Getting it Wrong Don't be afraid to try

I intended to write a different post to the one I’m about to write, I wanted to write about being wrong in words of knowledge and that its ok to get them wrong sometimes… however as I got my laptop and sat down to write I felt that I needed to expand on the topic of getting it wrong.

I believe its ok for us to get it wrong when it comes to ministry in healing, words of knowledge, evangelism and other areas, its ok to muddle our words, to not have award-winning speeches, to be slightly nervous and shy as long as we do all these things with the gentle and loving heart that comes from the father. We cloud ourselves in a deep fear that we will mess up, that we will do damage and shame ourselves, shame God and put people off the father.

I believe that the enemy uses our fear of getting these situations wrong, suddenly we think that ministry is a math test with right and wrong answers instead of what it really is, the connecting of Gods’ heart to the heart of the individual you are ministering to. Every ministry should come out of the love that Jesus has for everyone – Shawn Bolz says ‘Love Jesus – Love People’ if we carry this mentality into every situation then we won’t be able to mess up in such a way that God can’t use us !

God uses us every time we step out, I know that some of us may feel that we are constantly getting it wrong, if you feel you are in that season then please take some time to pray and listen to Jesus, look at your motivation (is what your doing coming from the heart of Jesus and his love of people) read books on the area you are pushing into and most importantly take time to read your bible, understand the biblical context of what you’re doing and understand how Jesus wants to be revealed through ministry.

Don’t be afraid to get around people who are experienced and doing ministry in the area you are pursuing. Take a chance to learn from them, ask questions and allow yourself to be guided.

While no one enjoys getting it wrong, I know that personally, I have had some incredible chats and prayers with people after giving incorrect words of knowledge, I’ve seen people engage with worship that is out of time, I’ve seen healing happen from the prayers of children who couldn’t string a sentence together !!

God is so good that he teaches us that we don’t have to have anything else going for us when we minister to people, the only thing we need is him and he’ll come in glory.

Step out there and minister, be open and prepared to learn from every mistake, chase God and chase getting it right but don’t allow the fear of getting it wrong to halt you.
